Card families: one shell, one contract, n members. A card joins a family when it satisfies the contract with a data module and one figure; a card earns a family when a second concept can wear its shell.
n segmented lanes × one axis × one probe
What does this shared position mean in each lane, and what changes when I act?
Several segmented lanes on the SAME domain, read by a shared probe. Every member supplies a state-derived reading and one action. Admission is by how the action changes the field: moving a coordinate through availability, reclaiming one endpoint, or transferring a conserved total between endpoints. A coloured meter alone is not a member; unrelated scales do not share an axis.
A MEMBER SUPPLIES validated axis and lane metadata · one state projection · a locate rule · an action target · one lane-mark slot

one concept × four levels × one stage system
What is this idea, at my level — and which part of the picture is which part of the formula?
A concept that has a formula with named parts and a picture of those parts. The member declares its stages; the shell binds each stage's hue to the figure, the numbered steps and the formula tokens, so clicking a step traces it through all three. Four fixed rungs of copy (Age 5 → PhD), one evidence chart, one scale ladder. Not for a procedure with no formula (that is a Lineage diagram) or a comparison (Versus).
A MEMBER SUPPLIES stages · four rungs of copy · steps and formula tokens keyed to stages · a sampled evidence chart · a log-scale ladder · one custom figure

one shell × n state machines
What is this machine doing right now, what happens next, and what can I do about it?
A device with a state machine worth explaining. The shell fixes the anatomy — title, status word, demo menu, stage with readout, headline and description, data area, caption and two actions — and every word on the card is derived from the member's state in that render; a member is admitted for its MECHANISM (a consumable running out, a fault hijacking the primary button, hysteresis), never for its device. A new device with a mechanism already in the roster is a variant, not a member.
A MEMBER SUPPLIES a state machine · every slot of the shell filled each render · all copy derived, no second copy · one device scene driven by the family clock

one graph × one clock walk
What is this process doing right now, in what order, and what has it cost so far?
A process with a FIXED topology that one clock walks in stages: nodes light in the stage's hue, the edges between them flow, a panel narrates what is happening, and a meter accrues what it costs. An edge names the phases that light it, so a branch can run twice and a retry is drawn as a correction. Not for a topology nobody walks (that is an Architecture diagram) or two topologies compared (Versus).
A MEMBER SUPPLIES nodes on a 100×100 canvas · edges with the phases that light them · phases with cumulative counters · a meter reading · one activity slot

one share × n windows × one target
Where does this rate stand right now — over the window I choose, against my target, against everyone else?
A metric that is a SHARE — a numerator over a denominator, read in percent over a time window — with a target worth holding and a benchmark worth beating. The member is a table of windows (value, delta, benchmark, population) plus the facts that turn one rate into another: which way is good, the range the meter shows, the words at its ends, the decimals, the denominator's noun. The shell derives every word — the arrow, the badge, the benchmark line, the footer — and the meter's axis is poor → perfect whichever way the member's direction runs. Not for a count (that is a stat tile), a series (a chart) or a rate nobody judges against a target.
A MEMBER SUPPLIES a share · direction · the meter's domain and end words · windows with value, delta, benchmark and population · a default window · a target with presets · one alt view
